Short Bio

 

We are the Sweet Ordeal; a three piece indie folk band playing melodic and bittersweet songs about love, loss, longing and redemption.

Founded by John Hamilton and Nick McMaster and joined in 2015 by Hannah McMaster. We play original material on a variety of instruments alongside different combinations of voice and harmonies.

We have been performing since 2016, playing frequently at legendary Brighton folk venue The Brunswick and supporting critically acclaimed acts such as Michele Stodart (The Magic Numbers) and The Self Help Group.

We are the Sweet Ordeal; a three piece indie folk band playing melodic and bittersweet songs about love, loss, longing and redemption.

 

Founded in Brighton by John Hamilton and Nick McMaster and joined in 2015 by Hannah McMaster (nee Beaumont) we play original material on acoustic guitars, cello, ukulele, glockenspiel, melodica, percussion and electronica, alongside different combinations of voice and harmonies. Our songs come from the storytelling tradition: either as autobiographical quirks or based on esoteric stories from the darker recesses of the human experience, all undercut with humanity and understanding.
